Stories at Christmas

21st December 2017 by Bernice Hopper

Stories at Christmas

Everyone loves a story!  And there’s nothing better than being told a story at Christmas, amidst the Christmas tree, twinkling lights, hot chocolate with marshmallows, and surrounded by family and friends.  That’s how Jubilee Church celebrated Christmas this year.

Between worship songs led by a band of excellent singers and musicians we heard stories of changed lives.

Alison told us about how the Children’s Storehouse is changing the lives of those who are referred to it.  She told us how the Church is involved in the heart of the community providing a service for families experiencing hardship.  This is the gospel in action.

Wendy told her story of God’s miraculous healing power after potentially fatal sepsis and pneumonia.  She experienced accelerated healing and has been restored to full health in a matter of days rather than months.  Her days are in His hands.

The teddy bear

We watched this video of the story of a teddy bear who found himself accepted by his new owner despite his dilapidated state.

Paul recounted how the Consultant had told him that his right knee cap was covered in “ridges and valleys” and would need to be replaced.. After specific prayer for “full restoration of the knee cap” it was totally smooth and needed no medical intervention.

Esther told us about God’s faithfulness and provision. She had asked him for a part time job, relevant to her PhD to specifically start in February. That is exactly what she got! God knows us individually and has a plan and a strategy.

Andrew was excited to tell us about the change in his life. He was a chronic alcoholic, his life out of control and he felt powerless to change. He asked God to break the cycle and woke one morning with no desire to drink alcohol again. He has now been free for 20 months. He has a new identity and is enjoying life. You can hear his story in full here.

Paul concluded our time to together with the story of Christmas. It would be good to find time in the busyness of the season to listen to the story he has to tell: Journeys at Christmas

Our next meeting together is on Sunday January 8th. We would love you to join us at 10.30am on that day to hear more stories.

One of many in a Church of a changed lives!
