Jesus Is Passing By – Cry Out!
Recently at Jubilee, a prophetic word was shared to encourage the church:
God is on the move all over the world. Right now, we’re hearing stories of revival and rumours of revival—Jesus is passing by. So don’t miss your moment – call on Him to stop and be with us.
That evening, at the beginning of our week of prayer we prayed over gospel stories where Jesus was just passing through, and people cried out in faith. We spent time praying into these moments, which was quite profound and so we thought we would share what came out of that time to inspire others to join together in prayer.
Each of these moments in Scripture reminds us: when Jesus passes by people who are hungry, hurting, or full of faith call out – and He responds.
1. Blind Bartimaeus – Mark 10:46–52 / Luke 18:35–43
What happened: Jesus is passing through Jericho, and Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, cries out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Reaction: The crowd tells him to be quiet, but he shouts even louder. Jesus stops and heals him.
Lesson: Desperation and faith can stop Jesus in His tracks.
Prayer Prompt: Ask for the kind of bold, desperate faith that won’t be silenced. Cry out for Jesus to stop for you and your situation.
2. The Woman with the Issue of Blood – Mark 5:25–34
What happened: Jesus is passing through a crowd on His way to Jairus’ house. A woman who had been bleeding for 12 years touches His cloak.
Reaction: She quietly reaches out in faith, believing she will be healed. Jesus feels power go out from Him and acknowledges her faith.
Lesson: A quiet but determined faith reaches Jesus even in the crowd.
Prayer Prompt: Bring silent, hidden needs before Him. He sees the quiet reach of faith even when no one else does.
3. Zacchaeus – Luke 19:1–10
What happened: Jesus is passing through Jericho again. Zacchaeus, a tax collector, climbs a tree to see Him.
Reaction: Jesus calls him by name and invites Himself to his house. Zacchaeus responds with repentance and generosity.
Lesson: Jesus sees the overlooked, people at the edges and responds to the seeking heart.
Prayer Prompt: Pray for those who feel overlooked or ashamed—Jesus is drawn to the seeking heart.
4. The Ten Lepers – Luke 17:11–19
What happened: Jesus is traveling between Samaria and Galilee. Ten lepers cry out from a distance, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
Reaction: Jesus tells them to go show themselves to the priests, and they are healed on the way. Only one returns to thank Him.
Lesson: Many receive blessing, but few return with gratitude. Give thanks what we have seen.
Prayer Prompt: As you cry out, don’t forget to return in gratitude. Thanksgiving completes the miracle.
5. The Disciples on the Road to Emmaus – Luke 24:13–35
What happened: After the resurrection, Jesus draws near to two disciples walking and discussing recent events.
Reaction: They don’t recognize Him at first, but invite Him in. Their eyes are opened when He breaks bread.
Lesson: Jesus draws near even when we don’t recognize Him—and reveals Himself in intimate moments.
Prayer Prompt: Invite Jesus into your confusion and disappointment. He draws near even when you can’t see it.
6. The Funeral Procession in Nain – Luke 7:11–17
What happened: Jesus is passing by the town of Nain and encounters a funeral procession for a widow’s only son.
Reaction: Moved with compassion, He raises the boy from the dead.
Lesson: Jesus brings resurrection life into our darkest moments.
Prayer Prompt: Ask Jesus to breathe resurrection life into the places that feel lost or hopeless.
Jesus is passing by.
Not just then, but now.
In your church.
In your street.
In your home.
In your silence.
In your storm.
Don’t miss your moment.
Cry out.
Reach out.
Climb up.
Return.
Invite Him in.
Let Him speak life.
