Our Identity: Secure, Accepted and Significant
In our recent blog post, Rob gave us practical steps for living in freedom when we face challenges. As we absorb those Bible truths into our daily lives they will become part of our identity. Knowing our identity in Christ is a really important part of our Christian life. Part of our identity is that God created us to be secure, accepted and significant.
Secure in Him
The worldview of security is bound up in status and recognition. It’s about having a job with a regular income; being promoted or having expensive things.
But in the Kingdom of God, security is knowing that we are loved by God. It’s about believing what God says about us and not what the world says. God supplies us with everything we need.
Affirmations*: In Christ I am totally secure.
God says:
I am free forever from condemnation. Rom. 8:1,2
I am assured that all things work together for good. Rom. 8:28
I cannot be separated from the love of God. Rom. 8:35-39
I have been established, anointed and sealed by God. 2 Cor. 21,22
I am confident that the good work God has begun in me will be perfected. Phil. 1:6
I am hidden with Christ in God. Col. 3:3
I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. 2 Tim. 1:7
Accepted by God
God accepts as we are. We don’t have to strive to be accepted. We are part of his family. We are sons and daughters of the King.
We don’t have to do anything to be accepted by God because we are already accepted by God because of what Christ has done.
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Gal. 4:4-7
Affirmations*: In Christ I am completely accepted
God says:
I am God’s child. John 1:12
I am Christ’s friend. John 15:15
I am united with the Lord and I am one spirit with Him. 1 Cor. 6:17

I am a member of Christ’s Body. 1 Cor. 12:27
I have been adopted as God’s child. Eph. 2:18
I am complete in Christ. Col. 2:10
Significant in the Kingdom
God creates us to be significant in the Kingdom. He has given us His Spirit so that we may be ‘more than conquerors’. God has a plan and a purpose for each of us.
If you feel that you’re not already walking in God’s plan for your life, or you are aware you are moving from one season of life to another, ask God what it is he is wanting you to do. Maybe you could go back and re-read the blog post Dreaming With God.
