Wrestling with God
During the past few weeks our Sunday talks have been a study of Identity through the book of Ephesians. However recently Rob interrupted the series to talk about wrestling with God and the importance of persistent prayer.
Prayer School has been an important part of the Ministry Schools in 2021 and 2022. It was already the plan for Jubilee to be more intentional about prayer in 2023. However the need arose for the church to come together in unity to pray for healing and breakthrough.
Examples
The talk centres around Jacob wrestling with God in Genesis 32:22-26. The example of persistent prayer is shown in Jesus’ parable of the woman and the unjust judge.

Some searching and challenging questions
Rob posed several questions during the talk:
- Can we both prayer powerfully and confidently and at the same time live without knowing or understanding?
- Can we live with uncertainty and trust God anyway?
- Can we keep praying, hoping and believing for breakthrough until we know differently because that’s what we do and then it’s up to God?
- Are we prepared to risk disappointment because God gives us a different answer, but pray anyway?
- Are we prepared to pray persistently whatever the outcome?
Fight on our knees
As the words of ‘Battle Belongs’ say:
So when I fight I’ll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
Oh God the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I’ll sing through the night
Oh God the battle belongs to You
