The French Connection
In September last year a team of us from Jubilee Church went over to France to help our friends from Lumiere des Nations (Light of the Nations) Church in Lyon, with their church weekend away. Our friendship with George and Gill Tee, who lead the Lyon church, goes back many years (to the time when they led Jubilee Church, Coventry). It is an absolute joy to us to be able to support and encourage them. They have been in Lyon for nearly four years now and the church is growing and thriving. William and Hannah Perrier, who we also know from Coventry days, are helping to lead the church along with Remi and Pauline Gomez. Such a great team!! Our family friends the Mumfords are also part of the church (we were in their parents’ home group when we first got married!) so the links for us are amazing!
Rob did a brilliant job of leading the weekend, teaching on the Father Heart of God, with help from the wonderful Adrian Horner from Open Arms Church, Kettering.
We made up the Jubilee team and we had some amazing times, worshipping God, praying for breakthroughs and enjoying great friendship and food and wine…as you can imagine in the Cotes du Rhone region of south-east France!
Lyon Church Weekend Away
William had found a fantastic place, a huge chalet next to a lake, about an hour’s drive outside Lyon, where about 60 of us stayed and enjoyed a lovely family atmosphere in a beautifully tranquil place. Unusually for the time of year it poured with rain the entire time we were there!! In fact, most of the weekend the whole place was engulfed in what seemed like a big raincloud! It started the day we arrived and ended as we were leaving. This phenomenon seems to accompany Rob whenever he is away ministering and we have come to realise that it’s a sign of the outpouring of the Spirit that is happening. Very exciting!
There was plenty of time for relaxing and getting to know people and it felt like a very significant time for the church in terms of building relationships as well as all the amazing testimonies that came through as people encountered God in a deep way. Rob’s teaching about the Father’s heart made a huge impact and people who normally don’t show much emotion were moved to tears.
The Jubilee Connection
As a church we are committed to praying and supporting Lumiere des Nations (LDN) in whatever way God leads. There are more visits planned this year. Rob has been out again in January and we are going over in two weeks’ time. Rob will be leading the church weekend away again in the Autumn.
Please pray with us for LDN for God’s blessing and favour on them and for divine appointments with people He is reaching out to in the city of Lyon and beyond.
Thanks to Paul and Helen Denny for this week’s blog post
