Reflections on the Cross

18th April 2019 by Bernice Hopper

Reflections on the Cross

Nat Aspley and I have collaborated again to bring some reflections on the meaning of Easter. For Christians, Easter is an important time to reflect on what Jesus did by dying on the cross and rising from the dead. Nat has written the poems and I have done the artwork.

His Great Gift

By grace
HIS free gift
HIS precious blood
HIS life for mine
HIM dying on the cross
Taking upon HIMSELF my sin
My guilt, my shame
By grace
HIS great gift
HIS gift of life
Forever in heaven
I will abide
Saved by HIM
Lifted from the grave
By grace
HIS gift of life

John 3:16

It Is Finished

It is finished
Victory won
Through HIS offering
HIS sacrifice
Death is beaten
Is no more
Has no hold
Over those who declare HIM LORD
HE has done it
Saved us from the grave
Victory won
Through HIS offering
HIS life for ours
Death has no hold
Over those who declare HIM LORD

Romans 10:9

Rejoicing in the Cross

Rejoicing in the cross
In all HE has done
My spirit is lifted
Joy placed within
My sins are forgiven
Victory won
Because of the cross
All HE has done
Such amazing grace
What an awesome GOD
At my wrongs being forgiven
Excitement I find within
Rejoicing in the cross
In all HE has done
My spirit is lifted
Joy placed within

John 3:16

HE Is Risen

HE is risen
Jesus is alive
Death defeated
Satan crushed

HE is risen
Jesus is alive
Hallelujah, rejoice
Celebrate HIS victory

HE is risen
Jesus is alive
Death defeated
Satan crushed

Luke 24:6a

Forever
