News from the Children’s Storehouse team
We just wanted to start by saying thank you to you all for your support in our first campaign! Before Christmas we launched a “Christmas Pants Campaign.” Where instead of sending Christmas cards, individuals were able to donate packs of pants to the storehouse. We calculated that we would need 2,500 packs of pants, enough to give away to 500 children in 2018.
The response to this campaign has been overwhelming. We are so grateful to the local community for getting behind it and to other local businesses including Solihull Council, JLR Solihull and Solihull Police, whose office I believe came to resemble “pants r us!”.
Through the campaign we received just under 2000 pairs of pants and with additional financial gifts we are very pleased to say that we have been able to hit our target!! Thank you so much
An amazing transformation
We started 2017 with exciting news that we had been successful in our application to The Big Lottery Fund and we finished the year by completing our last purchases and giving thanks for the transformation that has taken place.
Look how we have changed!
While we have been on “soft launch” we have been trialling new procedures and making sure we have best practises in place. We are in the position now where our storehouse is full of clothes and although we have had a steady stream of families through the door we have capacity to see and serve more!
With this in mind, we are constantly looking for new referral agencies to come on board. We regularly run open mornings to show potential referrers or partners around. For details of our next open day or information on how to become a referring agency- please get in touch!
We are here to help to make a difference! To us here at the storehouse, it’s all about the people, helping them to know they are valued and that their lives really do matter. One family that has visited the storehouse recently was really impacted by the warmth of welcome they received. They had been nervous about attending due to issues relating to debt and when they left it was with a smile and bags full of hand selected clothes and toys. To us, it’s what it’s all about.
Our next campaign
We are launching our next campaign this week. Could you help by putting together a toiletries pack for a baby, a child or a teenager?
You can follow our progress on our Facebook page: Children’s Storehouse or here on the website.
Our yellow Children’s Storehouse donations bins are available for donations and can be found at the back entrance of: Jago House, 692 Warwick Road Solihull. This can be accessed via Mell Square Delivery Area D, between The Delhi and The Saddlers Arms Pub.
Thank you to all those who serve in the Storehouse and to those who compiled this blog post.
